Generic Cyclosporine in the Treatment of Dry Eye Disease

Objectives: To investigate the efficacy and safety of a generic Cyclosporine 0.05% ophthalmic emulsion in chronic dry eye disease. Materails Methods: Thirty patients with disease were included this observational, prospective study. Patients examined at baseline, month -1,-3 6 The following evaluated each visit: CDVA (corrected distance visual acuity), corneal conjunctival staining (Oxford) score, TBUT (tear break-up time), Schirmer-2 OSDI (Ocular Surface Disease Index) patient’s subjective rating scale ocular discomfort, daily use concomittant artificial tears, researcher's assessment global treatment response, IOP (intraocular pressure). In addition, drug-related side effects individually examination. When initiating treatment, cyclosporine was combined topical loteprednol etabonate 0.5%. Results: There statistically significant improvement from baseline (decrease mean Oxford score), TBUT, values, score for physician’s response to all follow-up visits (p<0.001). artifical drops decreased time points (<0.001). most commonly reported adverse events burning (6.7%), followed by stinging (3.3%), hyperemia foreign body sensation disturbance (3.3%). Conclusion: Generic 0.5% on initiation has well-tolerability improves objective measures
